The social marketing organization, DKT International, was founded in 1989 and is one of the largest private providers of family planning products and services, including HIV/AIDS prevention, in developing countries. With its regional office in Dakar since 2016, DKT International FWACA offers family planning and HIV/AIDS solutions in French-speaking countries in West and Central Africa through its brands Lydia® and Kiss®. Purpose of the position

The Program Development Manager reports to the General Management. His/her role is to:

  • Ensure positive relationships with key funders on behalf of DKT by delivering scheduled reports and evaluations of our work, as well as interactions and regular meetings as needed
  • Ensure qualitative and quantitative analysis of our field operations and markets
  • Supervise Lydia® call center activities and reports
  • Support internal systems required to track progress and report accurately, appropriately and on time.

He/she will be working closely with

  • Within DKT: the sales team, the finance team, department managers, team supervisors, etc.
  • Outside of DKT: DKT’s various funders and stakeholders to ensure that the requirements of our funding agreements are met, and that the broadest strategic interaction is promoted and supported

Main tasks

  • Help meet contractual requirements and maintain strong relationships with donors by meeting their expectations through monitoring, reporting, and evaluating both our work and our learning.
  • Assume lead responsibility for the consolidation and submission of planned narrative and financial reports to donors
  • Ensure that scheduled interaction (meetings, updates, etc.) with donor technical staff is always on track
  • Compile and submit all stories and impact videos for each program
  • Write and update proposals, grants, and donor reports as requested by donors
  • Coordinate meetings, Skype calls, teleconferences and recording of telephone donations with donors at their request
  • Work closely with DKT’s finance department to ensure that financial reports are provided on time and as required
  • Work closely with DKT teams to ensure that narrative reports are provided on time and as required
  • Coordinate the organization, mid-level and major donors and partners in providing timely responses to donor questions
  • Manage the strategic relationship with other key institutional funders
    Support regular and timely interaction with agency staff to ensure awareness of DKT’s work and strong, ongoing DKT input into strategic thinking
  • Participate in the preparation of « concept notes » for fund raising in collaboration with the General Management
  • Support the adoption and usage of the DKT results framework as the main means of accountability with a range of other DKT funders
  • Ensure qualitative and quantitative analysis of our field operations and markets

Propose and conduct field work

  • Produce relevant reports for donors and other departments

Track the evolution of results

  • Supervise call center activities and reports
  • Manage the call center team in conjunction with the team leader
  • Analyze results
  • Propose strategies for operation and improvement
  • Produce and analyze activity reports

Other areas of responsibility

  • Contribute to meetings as required
  • Provide regular progress reports on the above activities to management teams and DKT’s direct line manager
  • Coordinate with DKT managers to welcome donors by engaging key stakeholders and conducting program pre-visits prior to donors’ arrival
  • Education/Work experience/Skills and abilities
    Minimum level of education
  • Master’s degree required, preferably in communications, program management or a related field of study
  • Experience with a non-governmental organization is preferred

Work experience

  • At least 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar position
  • Experience working with diverse donors, managing and building relationships
  • Experience in project planning as well as coordination, monitoring and evaluations
  • In-depth understanding and experience in the use of key quantitative and qualitative methods used in the evaluation of international development programs
  • Good working knowledge of results-based management and value for money
  • Proven experience in report writing
  • Experience in a team supervision role
  • Experience working with international organizations

Skills and abilities

  • Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills (to deal with staff at all levels, partners, external agencies and the public)
  • Good written communication skills, including writing and editing reports and documents in English – writing, proofreading, and editorial skills, giving special attention to accuracy and detail
  • Proven personal organizational and time management skills (meeting deadlines and working under pressure, prioritizing workload, multi-tasking, and the ability to adapt and be flexible in a challenging environment)
  • General organizational skills (managing and organizing internal meetings and
  • external events such as seminars and conferences)
  • Experience in financial management is an asset, ability to budget
  • Understanding of complex ideas, and ability to translate technical language into language that is easily understood by donors
  • Experience working with U.S. donor or visiting groups
